End game

The battle lines are drawn. Queen Death is mustering her fleet. But who will stand against her?

As conflicts and betrayal threaten to shatter Atlantis’s fragile alliances with Guide’s Wraith and the Genii, humanity’s only hope of survival rests on the fate of an Ancient device — a weapon too terrible to use but too powerful to cast aside. A weapon capable of exterminating every Wraith in the galaxy, and with them every human carrying Wraith DNA…

With Queen Death’s fleet fast approaching, Colonel Sheppard and his team must make their final choice. In the sixth and concluding installment of the STARGATE ATLANTIS Legacy series, the future of Atlantis will be decided — and more than one of her crew will be called upon to sacrifice everything in the fight for her survival…

The Inheritors

“So let’s get this done,” John said.

“Well, I’ll need the device before I can destroy it,” Sam said. “If you’ll go get it from wherever you hid it…”

“You may as well come with me,” John said, after a moment’s hesitation that he decided wasn’t entirely rational. “I’d rather not handle the weird Ancient device we don’t understand any more than I have to. You don’t have the ATA gene, so you’re less likely to destroy all the Wraith in the galaxy by accident.”

Sam followed him up a transport chamber and several sets of stairs to the catwalks where he usually went running with Ronon. Above them, a tangled grid of struts and roof supports extended up into the shadows.

“It’s up there,” John said. He scrambled up onto the rail of the catwalk, and then hauled himself up the jungle gym of struts and poles until he could reach the ledge where he’d stashed the weapon in between a spare Wraith stunner and a box of C4.

The stunner and the C4 were both still there, still securely duct taped to the ledge. In between them, the web of duct tape had been slit neatly with a knife.

“Damn it!”

“What?” Sam called from the catwalk below.

“The weapon’s gone,” John said. “Somebody got here first.”

PAST IMPERFECT

Stranded in Ancient Egypt at the end of the STARGATE SG-1 episode Moebius, Jack O’Neill, Sam Carter, Teal'c and Daniel Jackson are enjoying the simple lives they’ve forged in the years since Ra was driven from Earth.  But life never stays simple for long…

Back in the twenty-first century, trouble strikes the SGC.  With one of their own people snatched by renegade Tok’ra, Colonel Cameron Mitchell leads the new SG-1 on a chase through time to rescue their friend – and to protect their future.

But for Carter, Daniel and Teal'c, the greatest challenge is encountering themselves - and coming to terms with the consequences of their own choices.

MOEBIUS SQUARED

“SO THIS...” Cam gestured to the machinery. “This can only move us backwards and forwards in our own timeline.”

“That’s my best guess,” Sam said. She pushed her bangs back out of her face. Her hair had grown out and was now caught in a ponytail at the back of her neck. “Just like Janus’ puddlejumper.”

“I don’t even want to think about that thing,” Daniel said. “Or anything else to do with Janus.” He winced.

“Sorry,” Sam said. “Sore spot.”

“Damn right.” Daniel had only been out of the infirmary for two weeks since his latest brush with one of Janus’ inventions. This one had gotten him kidnapped and electrocuted.

They all spun around as the gate began to activate.

“Firing positions,” Cam said, crouching down beside the control panel. If someone were making a grab for Ba’al’s facility...

The wormhole opened and stabilized, a glittering puddle of blue. Cam’s radio crackled. “SG-1, this is Stargate Command. You are to return to Earth immediately.”

What the...? Cam chinned his radio on. “Stargate Command, we still have a lot to do here. Colonel Carter...”

“Return immediately,” the voice of Sergeant Harriman said firmly. “Stargate Command has been attacked.”

Now.” Daniel stepped to the edge of the platform. “Jack, what’s going on?” “We’re gating out of here, that’s what.” Jack rushed over to the DHD. “We’ll head to the Alpha site.” “Wait a minute!” Daniel ran down the platform steps. Sam and Teal’c followed close behind. “Don’t we want to figure out where ‘here’ is, first?” “Not really, no.” Jack jabbed a finger in the air. “Someone’s playing games with us and I’m not in the mood.” Someone needed to calm their normally fearless leader fast. Fortunately, Teal’c took the fall. “O’Neill, have you any memory of—?” “Nada. Bupkiss.” Jack’s voice lowered. “Me, either,” said Daniel. “The last thing I remember was…” Sam frowned. “Well, that’s odd.” “Carter?” “Sir, I remember who I am.” She gestured at Jack, then Daniel and Teal’c. “I remember all of you, but—” “Yeah, I’m having trouble, too,” Daniel said. “My long-term memory’s fine, but short-term’s—” “Gone,” Jack whispered.

Old secrets, new truths…

It is the aftermath of battle. Scattered and struggling to regroup, Colonel Sheppard’s team face their darkest days yet in the war against the Wraith Queen, Death.

Continuing her perilous masquerade as Queen Steelflower, Teyla Emmagan’s friendship with Guide grows stronger. With his help she must journey into the Wraith’s distant past to uncover the shocking truth about their origin – and the key to Queen Death’s defeat.

Meanwhile, Rodney McKay has a different battle to fight as he struggles to regain his humanity in the face of the atrocity the Wraith have committed against him. With his life hanging in the balance, will Rodney be forced to do the unthinkable in order to survive…?

Secrets

"Is Colonel Sheppard with you?"

"No." Sam wondered if she looked as perplexed as she sounded. "He's not back?"

"No." Woolsey's face was drawn. "We haven't heard a word from any of the team. Nothing." His voice sharpened. "I thought they were to return with you."

Sam shook her head. "That was the original plan, but we had trouble getting in close enough to beam them out. I had a radio message from Sheppard that indicated they had been beamed aboard Todd's hive ship. I thought they'd be back by now."

"No," Woolsey said. "We don't know anything."

Sam blew out a breath. If Todd were holding them prisoner they'd be getting demands any time now. But that was less likely, given that Teyla was still masquerading as his queen. "It's possible that the hive ship also took some battle damage," she said. "That may be more of a priority than getting to a gate and reporting in."

A twitch of Woolsey's eyebrows showed what he thought of Sheppard's enthusiasm for immediately reaching a gate and reporting in. "Did they recover Dr. McKay?"

"I don't know," Sam said. "There was a lot of interference on the radio. Sheppard said they were aboard Todd's ship, but I don't know if they had McKay with them or not." She shook her head. "If not, he's dead. Queen Death's hive ship exploded. There would have been no survivors…"

The Enemy Within

When disaster strikes, the Atlantis team resort to desperate measures in their bid to save Doctor Rodney McKay from the clutches of Queen Death.

With the lives of McKay and Colonel Sheppard at stake, Teyla Emagan must once again assume the role of Queen Steelflower as she attempts a dangerous subterfuge – a subterfuge made more complex by a tentative alliance with Guide, the Wraith once known as Todd. But in order to deceive Queen Death, Teyla must embrace her Wraith heritage more closely than she has ever done before. So closely that she may lose herself forever…

As the web of intrigue, deceit and betrayal grows ever more tangled, this thrilling installment of the Legacy series takes the team into the very heart of darkness.

STARGATE ATLANTIS: The Furies

"That is the core of it," Teyla said quietly. "You need us. And we need you. The peoples of the Milky Way will keep you from Earth. That is assured. But I am not of Earth, and there is a limit to what they will do here, a limit we have very nearly reached. The people of Earth will not send enough ships to defeat Queen Death, and we will die."

"Teyla," Sheppard began.

"Truth for truth, John," she said, her eyes on Guide's. "They have neither the power nor the will to conquer this galaxy. They will leave us to you, and you have already seen where that will end."

Guide took a long breath, perhaps the longest of his life, very long and very strange indeed, his eyes upon this one with the seeming of a young queen but who was not. She was kine. Or half kine, the product of a twisted experiment which had given an animal the semblance of a person, the mental voice of a woman. His answers should be clear, and yet they were not.

His true queen would speak thus, once and away.

His eyes slipped past her to Sheppard. "And when we are done, Sheppard? When we have defeated Queen Death together?"

Sheppard put his head to the side as he had done once, escaping Kolya's prison together. "All bets are off."

STARGATE ATLANTIS The Furies is book four of the exciting new STARGATE ATLANTIS Legacy series.

Terror awakes…

Something lurks beneath the ancient sands of Egypt. It is the stuff of Jaffa nightmares, its name a whisper in the dark. And it is stirring…

When disaster strikes an Egyptian dig, SG1 are brought in to investigate. But nothing can prepare them for what they find among the ruins. Walking in the dust of a thousand deaths, they discover a creature of unimaginable evil - a creature the insane Goa'uld Neheb-Kau wants to use as a terrible weapon.

With Teal'c and Major Carter in the hands of the enemy, Colonel O'Neill and Daniel Jackson recruit Master Bra'tac to help track the creature across the galaxy in a desperate bid to destroy it before it turns their friends - and the whole galaxy - to dust…

OCEANS OF DUST

"DEATH GLIDER." It was close enough now to be unmistakable; a glossy crescent howling down out of the sky towards him. As soon as he had spoken the machine unleashed its energies a second time; O'Neill saw gouts of fire spitting from its cannons. He dived for cover, throwing himself behind a boulder. There was a whiplash impact as a shot hit the rock, an earsplitting din of frozen stone superheating and exploding away in lethal shards, and bolts of fire were ripping past as the glider fired over and over into the plateau. O'Neill felt the punch of each blast through his boots, through his bleeding hands as he crouched.

A shadow crossed him, viciously quick, as the glider hammered through the air over his head, and he heard the electric whoop of a staff weapon as Teal'c sent darts of energy lashing up into the sky. A shot connected, spattered uselessly off a wing. The glider flew level for a second or two, then rose into a smooth, almost vertical climb, accelerated into a blur. In a heartbeat it was lost to the clouds.

"Damn," muttered O'Neill, getting up. He was starting to hurt all over. "That turned up fast."

Teal'c had been down on one knee, trying to get a better aim at the fighter. He rose, slowly, eyes on the churning whorl of cloud the machine had left in its wake. "If the glider arrived in response to the distress beacon, it must have already been close to this world. It is likely that a mothership is in this system, searching for the Tel'tak."

"And now they've found it. Thanks to us."

ALLEGIANCE

Book three of the Legacy series

“Oh, not good,” Zelenka said, and followed it in Czech with what sounded like something heartfelt. “We have systems shutting down — internal sensors, power to the weapons chair —”

“Get that thing shut down,” Lorne said.

“Yes, I am trying —”

“What the hell is going on?” Sheppard said, tearing up the stairs into the control room, wearing sweatpants tucked into the tops of his boots and a flannel shirt he hadn’t bothered to tuck in at all.

“This is Rodney’s work,” Zelenka said. “His programs are shutting down our security systems, and I cannot stop it. I am afraid we are going to lose the iris.”

“Security teams to the gateroom,” Sheppard said into his radio. “Sound a citywide alarm.” Salawi’s hands moved uncertainly over her keyboard, but it was only seconds before the alarm sounded. “Put me on citywide,” Sheppard said, and waited for Salawi’s quick nod before he went on. “This is Colonel Sheppard. Assume that as of now we are facing an attack by unknown hostiles who are trying to get through the Stargate. I want security teams on full alert —”

Zelenka breathed a curse in Czech, all the more alarming because his tone was hushed rather than heated. “The iris is shutting down…”

TRANSITIONS

“I repeat, Colonel. What the hell happened?”

“Uh…”

Oh damn, he knew that frown. She was about to techno-babble. Given the way his head felt, he probably wouldn’t survive that. “Twenty-five words or less, and no more than three syllables each, Carter!”

“Jack! Sam!” Daniel came climbing over the mounds of rubble, Teal’c in his wake. They looked a little singed around the edges, but otherwise seemed to be in full working order. “You guys okay?” gasped Daniel. “What the hell happened?”

“That’s what I’m trying to find out. Carter!”

“When the missile struck the car, the blast took out the gas pumps and set off whatever fuel was left in the underground tanks. Twenty-four words, sir.” She grinned. “There was a chance that some of the shrapnel might hit the chopper, but I hadn’t actually dared count on it. I guess there was a little more gas in those tanks than I’d thought…”
